In this article, you will learn how to model a basic O&M for WTG.
Please follow the below step by step guide. Prior to start your modelling you need to make sure a few things are set up:
- Input Library - make sure you have a wind turbine, a base, a CTV, and a weather file added in the Input Library. For more information on how to do this please see this article: Input Library.
- Set up a project and a case - once you have all information stored in your Input Library you can set up a project and cases. See more here on how this works.
Once this is set you can follow the below steps or click on the heading to go directly to the step:
Case info
- Open your case and go to Build - Case info
- Here you can add comments to the case.
Adding a Base
1. Open your case and go to Build - Bases
Click on + Add and select a base from your input library.
2. Click on the base itself to edit it
3. Fill in the input data required and select a weather file. Save it afterwards. More information can be found in the link Ports and Bases.
Wind Farm
1. Open your case and go to Build - Assets
Click on + Add and select a wind turbine from your input library
You will automatically be asked to define the location of the wind farm. You can do this by importing the latitude and longitude or by defining the area on the map
Click on Next
2. Fill in the necessary information on parameters, weather criteria, power curve, scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance and weather. Most important for this case is Scheduled maintenance and Corrective maintenance.
More information about adding and editing of assets are available in Wind farm assets.
Logistics
1. Go to Build - Logistics
Click on + Add and select a CTV from your input library.
Adding a CTV will facilitate the transportation of the technicians related to the maintenance tasks. Fill in all the input data required and click Save. For more information go to Logistics.
You will be asked to complete the below information before being able to add the CTV
Click on Next when you are done
2. Add all necessary information
An important section for this case is the tab Activity Duration
Personnel
- 1. The FTE pre-calculation feature will help to calculate how many people need to be hired for the full installation period when clicking on Calculate & Save. For more information go to Personnel.
- 2. Add the personnel you need by clicking on +Add. Please take into account the vessels you added, the number of technicians you specified you needed for scheduled and corrective maintenance.
Strategy
The picture below shows the input data that needs to be added. Emergency response limit and minimum working length input must be filled. You can find the description of the features in Strategy.
When you are done you are ready to run a simulation and get the output.
